Particlese: One Year Later
What a first year it has been for Particlese! Our family knew that starting a new business was going to be an adventure for us all. Little did we know how much of an opportunity for growth and satisfaction it could be! Coming out of the chaos of COVID/Operation Warp Speed, the initial phase of starting a consultancy was a welcome relief. It was all about learning and reestablishing connections lain fallow, critical activities that are so easily set aside.
Once the start-up details were handled, and there are a LOT, I was able to focus on what first drove me into science: fundamentally understanding how things work. Literature review is the vehicle for keeping on top of modern science and was something that I knew had been neglected for far too long. Many thanks to John Carpenter for his valuable LinkedIn posts to open-access articles! In addition, it became easier to stay on top of regulatory changes and expand knowledge useful to clients within the various pharmaceutical sectors. I had time to attend vendor webinars to learn about technologies that are new to the market. I was able to give a webinar with two colleagues I hadn’t caught up with in years (thanks Linda and Julie!). Even conferences were back with excellent attendance after COVID, and I was able to attend a couple of great ones in the Colorado Protein Conference (Breckenridge, CO) and Sci-X (Cincinnati, OH). In short, activities that provide depth of knowledge were now possible without sacrificing other responsibilities.
The satisfaction of helping clients with critical needs while maintaining professional growth is the best part of a consultancy. Valuable knowledge can be difficult to access within an organization – Particlese provides that with a singular focus on the individual client’s requirements and timeline. Thanks again to the people who had faith in Particlese handling their tough challenges. I’d love to name them all, but the lawyer says that could be a problem.
It hasn’t all been amazing. Leaving an organization always results in relationships changing from interacting and mentoring day-to-day into something less. But it also serves to highlight who professionally and personally valued the relationship. I’ve had incredible support from too many colleagues to mention, from finding a small business accountant to game planning the approach for services, and target market. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the unwavering support from my family and friends during the past year - you’ve enabled me to do what I love to do through the uncertainty of starting a new venture.
Particlese is looking forward to many more successful years of working with clients. Let us be your particulate and spectroscopic knowledgebase!
