2022 Sci-X Conference
For scientists involved in the spectroscopic community who have never attended a Sci-X meeting, you should absolutely mark it on your calendar. Sci-X brings together hundreds of professionals, academics, and students involved in dozens of research areas relevant to the spectroscopic community. I hadn't attended in a number of years, and I don't plan on making that mistake again!
The opportunities for networking are manifold, including mentoring activities, poster sessions, and exhibitor-hosted events. I ran into a number of old friends, including a former client I had never met in person, made a number of new friends, and had a lot of stimulating scientific conversations. The presentation sessions are varied, and the talks run the gamut from bulk spectroscopy to multi-photon academic pursuits. The ready inclusion of graduate student posters and presentations provides an excellent opportunity to talk "in the wild" for the first time.
Additionally, exhibitors include a wide swath of established instrument companies, support technologies (software, accessories), and new kids on the block. I was able to see a number of commercially relevant techniques that I wasn't familiar with that could be players in the device and large molecule arenas. All-in-all, completely worth the investment for the spectroscopic professional. Highly recommend!
