Particulars: Who We Are
"Don't get sick."
- Prof. John Carpenter
Kevin Dahl, Ph.D.
Founder and Lead Consultant

Quotations, such as those peppered throughout this site, distill the wisdom of experience for those less seasoned. Similarly, a skillful, competent consultant can condense the knowledge culled from years of practice into a resource available for rapid, professional advice. Particlese and its founder, Kevin Dahl, aspire to improve the availability of specialized experience to partners within the pharmaceutical and biotech communities.
Kevin Dahl is an experienced scientific professional with a background in spectroscopy and microscopy. Kevin has been involved in particle characterization for his entire commercial career, starting with ten years working alongside pharmaceutical and industrial clients at a globally recognized particle and spectroscopic instrumentation company. This was followed by more than five years working for a contract research laboratory with small and large molecule pharmaceutical clients, where Kevin achieved the position of Director. Kevin's experience, detailed in Analytical Specialties below, includes all of the analytical tools encountered in the modern particulate laboratory.
Kevin began his scientific career at The Pennsylvania State University, where he studied under Professor Mark Maroncelli. He received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry with a thesis titled, 'Experimental Assessment of the Effects of Solvent on the Rate of Excited State Chemical Reactions.' His thesis work involved the use of ultrafast electronic spectroscopy to study the effects of solvent environment on intramolecular reactions. Kevin's Ph.D. was followed by a National Science Foundation postdoctoral appointment at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., where ultrafast vibrational spectroscopy was used to probe the effect of solvent on molecular energy relaxation.
